Dumfries Blues Netball Club was in action for the first round of matches in the Carlisle Netball League. The seniors ran out winners against Stewartry and the development team were beaten by newcomers Solway Saints.
The seniors were first up on Tuesday night, and the being the first game of the season were slightly off their usual standards, with passes and shots not quite finding the target in the first 5 minutes of the first quarter. The Blues seniors eventually managed to turnover ball in mid-court and capitalise on possession and took a comfortable lead of 11-5 at the end of the quarter.
Things were tight in the second quarter with only a 1 goal advantage added to the Blues lead with scores 22-15 at half time. The third quarter saw Stewartry climb back into the match with their Goal Attack shooting well from distance and uncharacteristic error by the Blues in front of goal. Stewartry won the quarter 9-6 and the lead was cut down to 4, with the scores 28-24 going into the final quarter. The final quarter did see Blues return a dominant display and eventually came out comfortable winner 35-29. Kayleigh Proudfoot was named player of the match for Dumfries Blues Seniors.
